ToyFarce News: YouTuber Reveals How He Turned A Quote From 6 Months Ago Into Hours Of Content To Stir Up Panic In The Toy Community!

This week, the toy-collecting community was shaken to its core by yet another Hasbro controversy: This time, the revelation that the company would "focus on digital gaming and produce fewer toys" (except, you know, they never actually said that last part...). But today, one brave YouTuber (who wished to remain anonymous) is pulling back the curtain to reveal exactly how he turned a single out-of-context quote from July 2024 into an ongoing saga of speculation, outrage, and endless content. ToyFarce investigated...

"I saw that Hasbro's CEO mentioned something about investing in digital gaming last summer" explained the YouTuber. "And I thought... hey, why let facts get in the way of a good panic? Let's stir some #@%$ up! So, I carefully omitted any context, added some dramatic thumbnails with some huge text saying "NO MORE TOYS FOR HASBRO?!" in red, and voilà! Instant viral controversy! In the last 3 days, I've seen at least a dozen videos from other collectors giving their opinion on that made-up fact!".

According to the YouTuber, the secret formula for generating weeks of content is:
1. Take an old quote, preferably vague.
2. Ignore the original context entirely.
3. Add a terrifying headline (for example: "TOYS ARE DOOMED?!").
4. Rant for 15-20 minutes per video.
5. Repeat daily with minor updates.

"It worked like a charm" he continued. "I got reaction videos, entire Facebook groups arguing, angry Reddit threads, and even a few industry insiders weighing in without realizing the quote was from six months ago! Nobody bothered checking for the source, they just quoted me! And the best part? When the truth comes out, I can just double down and say 'Well, I'm sure they WOULD do this eventually!'... Classic move."

Meanwhile, actual toy collectors, after an initial wave of panic, quickly realized that their shelves were still full of new releases, and nothing had actually changed. But for YouTubers who thrive on controversy, the real story has never been a priority.

Hasbro has since responded by... well, actually, they haven’t responded at all, because they probably have no idea this whole thing is happening. But that won’t stop more videos speculating about their silence! Stay tuned for next week’s installment: "Hasbro STILL Hasn’t Denied It - What Are They Hiding?!"

The Youtuber denied answering when we asked him what was the point of all that...

More news at 11:00... "Hey guys, have you heard the news about Hasbro stopping making toys and focusing on gardening equipment?"

There are some ****ty youtubers out there who put out almost nothing but clickbait nonsense. Let's just make sure that no one here is actually calling anybody out, okay, folks? No one's done that yet, but the last couple of posts are tiptoeing up to that line, and I want to make it clear that line should not to be crossed.

Without knowing what this was actually referring to, it nevertheless immediately made me think of a particular channel, one which I try my best to avoid watching because I don't want the algorithm thinking I enjoy their content. I won't name them, because frankly they don't deserve people being directed towards them, but let's just say they make one wonder how many videos one can make whining about how Marvel Legends is doomed because a couple of obligatory movie waves from literal YEARS AGO wound up at Ollies- if you know you know. Anyway, they came to mind because one of the most recent vids from them I saw was a rant about the price point of the upcoming Maximum line, information that is currently unrevealed. So they took an upcoming product, made up a price in their head completely devoid of citation and likely detached from reality, and then spent 20 minutes complaining about it. It's that level of A) clickbait and B ) intellectual dishonesty that they trade in on the regular, which is why I avoid giving them views.

So I guess it shouldn't shock me when I went to their youtube page just to make sure I had their name right (before I decided they don't deserve any unnecessary promotion), and their most recent upload is a video pretty much exactly like the one being parodied in this article. Hell, they're likely the inspiration for it. Disgraceful.

If the Youtube channel is 1 of those who seems to state "Coming to Ollies Soon..." whenever a new Hasbro toy release has been reveled specifically for Star Wars and Marvel, then I have a good educated guess which channel you are referring to.

Anyways, even if it's pretty close to the truth, I still think this was a fun fake article. Sadly, it seems like may content creators use a similar tactic for just about everything. Even some ones that I normally watch or at least watch once and a while.

Say what you will about the pervious CEO, the late Brian Goldner: Eventhough he had desires to has Hasbro become an IP Machine by having their own Studio to make help make Movies and T.V. Shows(Inspired by the rise of Marvel Studios at that time frame), you know that it was also a way for Hasbro and make toys based on these Movies and T.V. shows themselves, along with maybe a few being license out. For the current CEO, Chris Cocks, while Hasbro may still produce toys for somethings, they are more likely to license out stuff as well, though maybe at this time, IP's that they are just sitting on or not doing as well as they hope.

I would wager a guess that when the 6" G.I. Joe Classified line eventually starts to loose some steam(And a sad reality, it does seem to happen with a Joe line every now and then, usually after at least a good number of years at the very least), that it will be on "Hiatus", and Hasbro will look for someone else to either do the 6" Classified line, or just license out the "G.I. Joe: Classified" name for someone else to do whatever G.I. Joe toys they want to do with that specific name brand(Regardless if they are 6" figures, or something else all together, such as Preschool line, a Vehicle heavy line with approx 1"-2.5" figures or even figurines, etc). Having said that, I do think Hasbro doing 6" Classified may still be good for a few more years before that happens.

I mean yeah it is satirical, but it isn't far from the truth is it? I mean they are already outsourcing brands to playmates and loyal subjects right? The market has changed since the 80s, and we who are their real market-adults in our 40's and up, is getting smaller. The company's current and previous CEO's don't wanna make toys/collectible, they wanna be a license holder. Why pay disney for the glory of making stuff when they can get paid to outsource GI JOE, transformers, MASK ect. The end is nigh gentlemen, this was just the warnings.

I saw the video being parodied here pop up in my Youtube recommendations and was really angry when I did a tiny bit of google research. This is a clever Toy Farce, but not funny. Youtube commentators are awful.
